Tax Manager 

Daily Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee and manage tax services to firm clients.
  • Review individual, business, trust, and non-profit returns.
  • Preparation of the most complex tax returns when necessary.
  • Determine tax nexus for various state filing requirements.
  • Assist with tax planning and quarterly or year-end projections.
  • Coordinate IRS or State tax audits and respond to tax notices.
  • Utilize research skills to resolve client tax and accounting issues.
  • Present CPE to firm personnel.
  • Develop and improve procedures for the tax department along with other managers and partners.
  • Evaluate and mentor staff and seniors.
  • Engage in business development and attend networking events.
  • Participate in recruiting events and interview future intern and staff candidates.

Qualifications, Abilities and Skills:

  • 7-10 years of experience in public accounting specializing in tax compliance and planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA or MS in Taxation preferred by not required.
  • Experience reviewing tax returns of all types.
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Solid knowledge of tax code, laws, and regulations.
  • Manage multiple engagements within budget while supervising tax staff and seniors.
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills and ability to establish and maintain client relationships.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of ProSystem fx Tax and ProSystem Engagement preferred but not required.
