General Responsibilities
Goff, Backa, Alfera & Company, LLC. seeks a Senior Auditor in Pittsburgh, PA, responsible all phases of audit, review, and compilation engagements, including reviewing the work of staff auditors and assisting in training subordinate staff members. Specific duties of this position include: (i) Preparing, examining, or analyzing accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards; (ii) Reporting to management regarding the finances of an establishment; (iii) Establishing charts of accounts and assigning entries to proper accounts; (iv) Developing, implementing, modifying, and documenting recordkeeping and accounting systems using current computer technology; (v) Providing external auditing services for the business; (vi) Analyzing business operations trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses and/or provide advice; (vii) Assisting managers in planning and executing engagements; (viii) Supervising, training, and developing subordinate professional staff through effectively delegating tasks and providing guidance to staff, and providing performance feedback and training; (ix) Reviewing Staff working papers, ensuring compliance with professional standards and firm policies; (x) Identifying issues that require consultation and risks or issues that should be brought to the attention of the Audit Supervisor, Manager, or Partner; and (xi) Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with client personnel and assess clients’ satisfaction and proactively maintaining contact with the clients throughout the year.
Experience and Skills:
Must possess a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in a directly related position.
Must also have two (2) years of experience (can be concurrent) with: (i) Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); (ii) Public accounting experience focusing on auditing and accounting engagements; (iii) Preparing financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); (iv) Analyzing business trends, costs, and revenues; and (v) Preparation of preliminary and final communications with governance and management.
Must also have knowledge of/experience with (from any completed university-level coursework, seminars, workshops, or real-world hands-on experience) research on application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and research on accounting and auditing standards, and best practices.
